Day 1297 - Preparation pictures for driveway construction. This is the completed wall all filled in the back..
Day 1297 - The boat fits perfectly with full access to both garages. |
Day 1297 - I put this cobblestone border in the driveway primarily because I thought I would be paving the entire driveway. I'll mate up the concrete driveway with a 3" spacing to allow gravel to be placed between each. It will look pretty good.
Day 1297 - This is looking from the garage toward the pool and provides the entire cobblestone border. |
Day 1297 - This is approximately what still needs dug out to widen the driveway to 16 feet.
Day 1297 - This is the same area from the other direction. I rented a mini excavator for the weekend to dig this area out. |
Day 1298 - Since we have a 35' well right below the putting green, if and when the well goes out on us, I'll need to dig another well in the backyard. To avoid digging up the driveway, I placing a 4" pipe down 30" under the driveway.
Day 1298 - These dimensions are important. The pipe is two full 10' lengths capped at each end. It is 36" deep and the far end in this picture is 44" toward the backyard from the 4x4 post. It may be a little deeper than the house side. |
Day 1298 - I placed some drain stone below the pipe and some above it, but this is a solid 4" PVC thick wall pipe that should withstand any pressure at this depth.
Day 1298 - This is the view on the backyard side of the drain |
Day 1298 - This is the house side of the ditch. The end of the pipe is 63" from the tip of the step for the pool entrance. If you draw a line from the outside of that step and measure from the tip, you should find the cap approximately 36" deep at that point.
Day 1298 - I used a lot of tarps to prevent any dirt going on the driveway. When I filled this back in, I initially put a layer of stone on the pipe and then 2-3" layers of dirt, compacted and repeat to the top. There is about a 6-10" base of stone at the top of the ditch. |
Day 1298 - Digging this ditch took about an hour. By hand about 3 weeks. Thank you Lord for machinery.
Day 1298 - Pipe is in and ready to be re-buried. |
Day 1299 - This is the area where I'm extending the drainage ditch for the wall and runoff from the backyard. I'm running the drain for another 40' to allow for dissipation of any rain water coming from the wall.
Day 1299 - This will also extend the driveway width wise by about 1-2 feet from what it was allowing for better manuevaribility of the boat. |
Day 1299 - Can you tell how many things still need to be done by this picture? 1. Trees cut, 2. Trees grinded, 3. Driveway expanded, 4. Fence fixed, 5. Gate replaced, 6. Gate re-arranged. More in my mind!!!!
Day 1299 - Drainage ditch. I've got two entries planned from ground water and about 1-2 feet of drain stone wrapped in felt in this area. |
