Day 25 - We had the storm I was trying to avoid before
moving the pump house. As you can see, the old pump house JUST didn't
do well in a significant rain storm. Amazingly the pump kept running.
Day 25 - Several minutes later the water is going down,
but the entire mess is a DANGER ZONE that's getting moved. |
Day 31 - Humpty Dumpty coming together.
Day 31 - Took a long time to get all these beams up and
balanced and leveled. |
Day 31 - Proud of my creation
Day 32 - An inside look of the construction |
Day 32- Unfortunately, picture taking got a little LAX.
After one week this is where I got. Without any help, I was successful
in placing all the beams correctly using a lot of extra 2x4's. The top
beams were a little tough in getting into place.
Day 33 - The roof is taking shape. The design of the pool
house is to have a porch area 5' from the front and 7' out from this end
under roof with an additional 2' overhang from the roof. I took the design
of this shed from a shed I saw online and added the additional roof to
it. |
Day 32- Beginning all the starting stages of the roofing
Day 32 - I had to place all the beams on top of the pillars
myself. Could have used an extra hand. A few of them were very tricky
and took a few attempts and a few obscenities. They were heavy treated
4x6's. |
Day 32- That beam on the top left was a bear. Dropped
it twice before it finally got placed correctly. All forgotten now.
Day 32 - With each roof truss, the stability improves.
I'm very happy with using 2x8's. |
Day 32- Looking out to the front yard. Another good
day completed.
Day 32 - That boat needs to find some water soon. |
Day 33 - It wasn't tough getting the roof trusses going
after I got the notch angles right. I'm not very good at this. I read
a lot online prior to trying it and it helped.
Day 33 - Got all the straight roof trusses up. Next I have
to figure out how to get the gable front end done. |
Day 36- This will be a view from the end of the pool.
Got the ridge beam up and now trying to figure out how to do these complex
angles. The back roof is sheathed. That turned out to be a fairly simple
task for a one-man crew. Just a little work getting the sheats up to
the 2nd floor. I sure could have used Dave for these angles.
Day 36 - Got the overhang figured out and all but two sheets
on the back. It's starting to get pretty sturdy up there. |
Day 36 - Still trying to figure out how to get the dormer
in at the front. Everything is completed on the back end.
Day 36 - A little bit of history. There are 3 items that
my Dad provided/built for me in the past. 1. The stool really came in
handy throughout this project. 2. The level was a level my dad used when
he was young. I still use it periodically. It is made completely out of
wood. 3. The saw horses are very handy. This is my second set. I ran over
the first set so I had him build me another pair. He said this was my
last pair. |
Day 36 - Getting the overhang completed on the front end.
Day 36 - I'm really proud of this equipment. It brings
back good memories. Hope I can pass them on to my sons some day.
Day 37 - Starting to frame out the side walls on top.
Day 37 - Beginning the dormer beams. My first roof truss
that I cut for angles, I began with a 12' 2 x 8 and by the time I was
done getting the angle right, it was approximately 8'. I made sure I
kept the sample pieces for the remaining cuts to the other trusses.
Day 37- The roof trusses are coming along pretty well.
Day 37- A very proud owner. It was once again HOT up there. |
Day 37- A shot from the driveway. The boat keeps moving
back and forth for the next 3 months due to the heavy construction you'll
see shortly.
Day 37 - At the end of the night, everything is cleaned
up and ready for the next day of work. |
Day 37 - Rottie is proud of dad's work.
